WILD AT HEART RETREAT
An African Experience

23 - 30 OCTOBER 2016

Are you yearning for an adventure?  Have you always wanted to go on an African safari?  To travel.  To drum and live and howl at the Moon, and to discover that divine power of togetherness?

We are connecting with women from all around the world to feel the warm, healing, and loving energy of true sisterhood in beautiful and sunny South Africa!

This is a life-changing experience where we leave our comfort zones, awaken our hearts, reflect on our purpose, ignite our creativity and feed our souls.

The Venue...

Stay in a private home in the beautiful Brenton-on-Sea, Knysna, for seven nights.  A short distance from the beach, this location has the most magnificent views, both during the day and at night.

Knysna, a small coastal town, is a popular tourist destination in South Africa, because it offers so much - rest for the weary,  adventure for the seeker, and spiritual connection with the universe.

Surrounded by lakes, forests, beaches, and so much more, this area is called the Garden Route of South Africa and the word 'Knysna' is from the Koi language meaning 'Fern'.

Say yessss...

Home to the country's largest indigenous forest, Knysna is famous for its tranquil lagoon around which the entire town and its population revolve.  It is also known for oysters and the annual Oyster Festival in July, and for seahorses which breed here in our waterways.

So let us say yes to the awakening of our feminine essence, and to gaining deeper lasting connections with like-minded women.

Let’s say YES to adventure and to magic and love and nature and to spiritual growth.

It’s time to recognise that your life is a blessing to be celebrated.

And that’s exactly what we’re going to do!

YOUR WILD AT HEART JOURNEY AWAITS...

Day 1 - ARRIVE (Sunday, 23 October)

Arrive at Oliver Thambo airport, Johannesburg, before or on Sunday morning.  A connection flight during the afternoon will deliver you to George Airport where we’ll be waiting for you.  We will get settled into our gorgeous accommodation in Knysna and enjoy a welcome celebration dinner as we set our intentions.

Day 2 - BEACH & CIRCLE (Monday, 24 October)

Breakfast is served at 9.00am every day.

We will take it easy for anyone with a little jet-lag to catch up, and after breakfast we'll go for a leisurely beach walk while we collect natural materials for our Circle.

During the late afternoon we'll have our first women's Circle.

You'll have time for reflection before a delicious dinner is served at the villa.

Day 3 - MEET A RESCUED ELEPHANT (Tuesday, 25 October)

I am so excited to introduce you to Jabari, Bulelo and Malaika!

After breakfast, we'll venture out of the villa for one of the highlights of the week. You will be driven to the nearby town of Oudtshoorn, where you will be able to hug and feed these three rescued elephant, and even though human contact is obviously not ideal, these animals have a beautiful story.

We'll then enjoy lunch at the Game Lodge, before returning to the villa for some reflection time.

Dinner will be served at the villa.

Day 4 - SHOPPING & SOUL CRAFT (Wednesday, 26 October)

After breakfast, we will go for a visit to the Knysna Waterfront, where you will be able to browse around the wonderful little African shops, and get some souvenirs to take back home with you.

We'll have lunch here, and then return home for a soul craft project during the late afternoon. It involves color, sound healing, a dash of mindfulness, and a whole lot of fun!

Dinner will be served at the villa.

AWAKEN, EMBRACE AND CELEBRATE THE WILD WITHIN!

For sure you'll fall in love with Africa as you immerse yourself in the mesmerizing vibes of Knysna. There's no way you're going home unchanged on a soul level.

Day 5 - FREE DAY (Thursday, 28 October)

Today is a free day to do as you desire.

Options include going to the beach, hanging out at the villa with new (and old) friends, more shopping, sleeping, finishing your soul craft project, reading, or a day at the Spa (can be arranged).

Dinner will be served at the villa.

Day 6 - SAFARI! (Friday, 25 October)

Wake up and GO ON SAFARI!  This should be another highlight of your stay because it’s what Africa is all about.  Our wildlife.

We will go for a two-hour game drive in an open safari vehicle in a local Reserve to look for elephant and giraffe and zebra and baboons, and lions of course :)

After our safari we will visit the stunning little town of Plettenberg Bay for dinner at a magical location called Emily Moon.

Day 7 - MARKET & DRUM CIRCLE (Saturday, 29 October)

A short drive from Knysna, the wonderful Wild Oats Farmer's Market can be found on Saturdays, and I would love to take you there.  A perfect place for us to grab a bite, we can walk around and browse while meeting some fascinating people and discovering some beautiful things - from exotic orchids to crocheted skirts and jewelry.

On Saturday evening we'll do a drum circle lead by a South African drum group, and they will bring enough drums so that everyone can play. This is all about fun and connection, and another beautiful memory we create together.

You'll get to experience a true tradition, called a 'braai' while the sun sets to our drum beats.

CALL TO ACTION

Day 8 - CLOSING CIRCLE (Sunday, 30 October)

We'll enjoy our last delicious breakfast together before having our closing Circle (and a little gift exchange).

It will be hard to say goodbye but at least we'll know that we've made lifelong friends...

Love Notes from our Soul Sistas

What some of our previous Wild at Heart African Retreat participants had to say...

Carolyn A. Malone

Attending the Soulwoman Retreat 2016 in South Africa was life-changing for me.   During this time, I learned about “holding space for someone” and to value myself as a person, just as I am.  The most profound lesson that I learned, however, was that true healing takes place in an environment of love and non-judgment, which this retreat provided.

It wasn’t until I got home, in the days and weeks that followed, when I realised that healing had occurred deep within my soul.

This albatross had been unchained and buried in South Africa.   Since releasing my fear in a Full Moon ceremony in Knysna, my life has expanded and is still expanding.

I cannot express enough how much it meant to me to be among liked-minded souls during this retreat, where we could laugh, cry, share our fears, and have fun.  I truly felt I was home and that I could be my real self.

So often in our daily lives we operate on a superficial level and wear a mask whether we are at work, at play, or at home. It is important for us as women to make the time to reconnect to our true selves and rediscover what makes us truly beautiful and unique, and to shed false beliefs that hold us back.   The Soulwoman Retreat is the perfect place to do this.

Lorna Reid

My journey to South Africa has been very transformational and life-changing!  Feet on the soil of the Motherland, the ocean waves washed over my body... It's a feeling I cannot explain fully in words but I really found and love me!

When we met for the 1st time in person in South Africa it was like we had known each other for a long time....kindred sisters - regardless of race and economic status!  Our common bond was women seeking something deeper, a more meaningful life and substantial way of being, seeking emotional healing and joy, thriving not just surviving, a non-judgmental space!

We are into essential oils, crystals, following the moon cycles, positive affirmations, manifestation, abundance creators, energy and all things magickal ...all things that are in the light!

My take-away from the journey in a nutshell is... Find new people/your tribe and get out there and travel far! Do not feel guilty to put yourself first!  No more limiting beliefs!

Anything is possible if you believe!

Kendra West

As I celebrate a full year of Soulwoman Circles I had the greatest opportunity of being able to join the Wild at Heart retreat in Africa. My heart soared at the thought of "hugging an elephant" and the brave adventure of crossing the Atlantic Ocean on my own!  A trip travelling halfway across the world, and for the first time all about me, myself & I!

But, with no real surprise, I ended up receiving so much more than I thought was possible!

The adventure of a lifetime truly turned into space for transformational growth, and support I wasn't even aware I was looking for! Acquaintances became friends. Friends quickly became stout supporters & seekers of joy! Every single person has brought a deeper sense of gratitude, humility & meaning into my life. The bonus of a safari, drum circle , elephant encounter and goddess ritual has brought together a group of likeminded women of various backgrounds to rally behind one another, and hold each other higher! Our adventures may have brought us together but our hearts have made us each a Soulwoman.

I am forever thankful for the love and amazing guidance of Mia & Karen (& their families behind the scenes-xoxo!) I want you to know I am pushing aside the bushes in front of me and following my Blu Butterfly!

In light & love.

Soulwoman Retreat - if you're thinking about going - stop thinking and just do it! It was the most life-changing experience I have had on so many levels. Let's start with the basics... As for just a vacation, it was beyond anything I could imagine. It was thoughtfully, heartfelt, meticulously planned to be a true connection between like-minded women. Every outing we went on or activity we participated in was mind-blowing. Then there was the food... delicious is really not enough to describe it. Not one meal disappointed me, from the home-cooked breakfasts, the catered dinners, or the chosen restaurants - and we were able to partake in traditional South African cuisine which really made it special. What really pushed it over the top though was the soul-connections that were made along the way. Mia and Karen are the most genuine, caring, and open women I've ever met. Helping women make that connection is their passion and you can feel that right away.  There was a lot of laughter and some tears. You can feel the energy rising just by being around all these amazing women and it is such an experience to be a part of. The last thing that I can't stop thinking about, is how this group of women, with all their different levels of brokenness, came together and not only changed their own lives - but changed other people's lives. Our combined energy had profound effects on several people that we came into contact with throughout the trip and I was blessed to experience that. I also realised that the world is not the scary place that it is portrayed to be. Other places and people are not so much different than us. It was truly a heart and eye-opening experience.
